Media Attachments

Attach photos and videos to Notes, POIs, Entry Points, Cameras, Barriers, Security Personnel, and Badge Intelligence items. Media is captured with GPS data and stored securely within ATLAS.

You can attach media to the following item types:

Item TypeExample Use Cases

POIsLocation photos, landmarks, reference images
Entry PointsDoors, locks, readers, access panels

Each item editor includes an ATTACHED MEDIA section for managing photos and videos.

  1. Open any item editor (Note, POI, Entry Point, etc.)
  2. Scroll to the ATTACHED MEDIA section
  3. Tap the camera icon in the section header
  4. Choose an option:
    • Take Photo — Opens your device camera
    • Record Video — Opens camera in video mode
    • Choose from Gallery — Pick existing media from your device

Media is automatically tagged with GPS coordinates when available:

SourceDescription
EXIF DataGPS coordinates embedded in the image file by your camera
Device LocationCurrent device GPS if EXIF data is not available

Photos with GPS data display a green location indicator on the thumbnail.

Attached media appears as a horizontal scrollable list of thumbnails:

  • Photos show a preview image
  • Videos show a preview frame with a play icon overlay
  • GPS indicator (green pin) appears on media with location data

Tap any thumbnail to open the full-screen media viewer:

  • Pinch to zoom on photos
  • Swipe between multiple attachments

Tapping a video opens your device’s default video player for playback.

  1. Long-press on a thumbnail in the ATTACHED MEDIA section
  2. Confirm removal in the dialog

Removed media is deleted from ATLAS storage. Original files in your device gallery are not affected.

Media files are copied to ATLAS’s internal storage when captured or imported:

  • Location: App’s private data directory
  • Privacy: Not visible in your device’s photo gallery
  • Integrity: Deleting from your gallery won’t affect ATLAS data

When exporting a project, enable Include photos & videos in the export dialog:

  • Creates a .atlas bundle (ZIP format) containing project data and all media files
  • Without this option, exports as a smaller .json file (metadata only, no media)
  • See Data Management for full export details
