OpenTAK Integration
ATLAS integrates with the Team Awareness Kit (TAK) ecosystem for real-time team coordination and situational awareness sharing.
What is TAK?
Section titled “What is TAK?”TAK (Team Awareness Kit) is a situational awareness platform used by military, law enforcement, and emergency services. ATLAS pushes your assessment data to an OpenTAK Server so your team can see it on their maps in real-time.
Supported Platforms
Section titled “Supported Platforms”ATLAS works with:
- OpenTAK Server — Self-hosted TAK server
- ATAK (Android Team Awareness Kit)
- WinTAK (Windows)
- iTAK (iOS)
1. Get Your OpenTAK Server Config
Section titled “1. Get Your OpenTAK Server Config”Export a Data Package from your OpenTAK Server admin console. This .zip file contains:
- Server address and port
- Client SSL certificate (
.p12) - CA certificate
- Connection preferences
2. Copy Config to ATLAS Directory
Section titled “2. Copy Config to ATLAS Directory”Copy your OpenTAK config .zip file to this directory on your Android device:
/storage/emulated/0/ATLAS/Use LocalSend (cross-platform, no internet required) or USB transfer to move the file.
3. Load Config in ATLAS
Section titled “3. Load Config in ATLAS”- Go to Settings → TAK Server
- Tap Load Config
- Select your
.zipfile from the list - ATLAS parses the configuration and extracts certificates
4. Connect
Section titled “4. Connect”- Tap Connect
- Wait for the status indicator to turn green (Connected)
- If connection fails, check the error message for certificate or network issues
Selecting a Mission
Section titled “Selecting a Mission”Once connected, select a mission to organize your pushed data:
- Available missions appear in the Mission Name dropdown
- Select one, or type a custom name to create a new mission
- If mission is password-protected, enter the password
- Tap Set Active Mission
Data Type Toggles
Section titled “Data Type Toggles”Control what data ATLAS pushes to your server:

| Push Cards/Magstripe | Send captured RFID and magstripe data |
Toggle each data type on or off in Settings → TAK Server → Data Types.
What Gets Pushed
Section titled “What Gets Pushed”ATLAS pushes the following as KML files to your active mission:
- Captured Cards — RFID cards with location and metadata
- Magstripe Reads — Track data with GPS
- Points of Interest — Custom POIs
- Notes — Field notes with coordinates
- Situational Awareness Items — Cameras, entry points, barriers, security personnel
ATAK Data Sync Plugin
Section titled “ATAK Data Sync Plugin”To automatically receive mission data in ATAK, install the Data Sync plugin:
Data Sync Plugin on Google Play
This plugin automatically pulls items sent to missions, so pushed data from ATLAS appears on your map without manual refresh.
Server Management
Section titled “Server Management”When connected, access additional controls:
Missions
Section titled “Missions”Browse and manage missions on the server.
Settings → TAK Server → Missions
End User Devices
Section titled “End User Devices”View connected EUDs (End User Devices) and clients.
Settings → TAK Server → End User Devices
Groups
Section titled “Groups”View TAK groups and memberships.
Settings → TAK Server → Groups
Connection Log
Section titled “Connection Log”ATLAS logs all TAK server activity during your session:
- Go to Settings → TAK Server
- Tap the log viewer to see:
- Connection attempts
- Mission operations
- Push successes and failures
- CoT streaming events
KML Export (Offline)
Section titled “KML Export (Offline)”No TAK server? Export directly to KML:
- Open a project
- Tap Export → KML
- Share the file with your team
KML files import into ATAK, Google Earth, or any GIS software.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”Connection fails immediately?
- Verify the server is online and reachable
- Check that your config
.zipwas exported correctly - Re-import the configuration
Certificate errors?
- Certificates may have expired — request new ones from your server admin
- Ensure the config was exported from a working Data Package
Mission not visible in dropdown?
- Missions are filtered by group membership
- Contact your server admin for access
- Tap the refresh button to reload the mission list
Data not appearing on team maps?
- Confirm you’re in the same mission
- Verify items have GPS coordinates
- Check the connection log for push errors
